The Friends of Althorpe and Keadby Primary School have been an integral part of the school community for many years. In its time, Friends of the School have raised hundreds of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school in general.
Friends of the School exist to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It is fun too – just ask any of the committee members or helpers.
Friends of the School is a member of the NCPTA, which is the national charity that advances education and supports PTAs, throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our association is one of 13,000 in current membership of the NCPTA. We pay an annual membership fee to the NCPTA which gives us lots of member benefits including subscription linked insurance cover and support and advice on PTA and fundraising matters.
All the above makes a huge contribution to school life and we try really hard to fund all the little extras that make Althorpe and Keadby special.
YOU ARE! As a parent/guardian/teacher of a child at Althorpe and Keadby Primary School you automatically become a member of Friends of the School.
Friends of the School is run by a Committee of volunteers who regularly attend the Committee meetings and help to organise events. Although an informal group, as a registered charity we are obliged to be properly organised, so there is an elected Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. All parents and members of the school community can get involved if they want to, even if they only have a small amount of time available.
Meetings are held usually every 6 weeks at Keadby Club on a Wednesday evening. Anyone is invited to come along whether it’s simply to listen to what’s going on, express an opinion, make a suggestion or volunteer to help.
If you would like to help the Friends of the School then please get in touch. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers and really appreciate all the help that we get.
